Kirsten Elliot is currently pursuing her Ph.D at University of Southern California. We met in 2018 when we were both Teach for America Corps members.

To me, there isn't enough progress when it comes to the schools in the black community. They simply don't have enough resources for innovation. Bureaucracy halts progress and children are suffering.

Kirsten isn't an expert yet so I didn't press super hard but I plan on getting more information from other school leaders during black future month because I think that's an area we're really getting our teeth kicked in.

One of the themes that will continue to arise during Black future month is Personal Responsibility. We are the one's we've been waiting for. Stop blaming other groups, help isn't coming. If you want to see change effected in your community, let it start with you.

The same goes to educating your children. If you want your children to be the most prepared for society, you must play an active role in their education.

At the end of this conversation, Kirsten has a friend come on and we chop it up on some more spiritual vibes to be continued in the next episode...
